AS Journey Coming to an End?

Just got my latest psa results back & it's not what I had hoped for. I started AS just over 8 years ago & at that time decided if/when treatment was ever needed I would choose surgery. But the more I have read here, SBRT is now looking attractive. Got my next uro apt in 3 weeks so we'll see what he says. The last time I saw him he said he wouldn't do surgery on me if I was over 70 years old. Looks like I may still have that option. I've been able to push that decision to the back burner & not let it consume my daily life. Not the case now. I'll get an appt with a radiation oncologist to see what my options are there too.

Just psa. My uro may order more when I see him.

You and your AS case are such a powerful & positive example for so many men here at HW/PC, and many tens of thousands of men like them in the US every year. "Thank you" and congratulations on behalf of all the men here at HW/PC for leading by example! Thanks also for continuing to come back here periodically and providing updates which have undoubtedly continually inspired others...more than you would know or realize!

Here's a great quote from Dr Ian Thompson for you to remember which is directly applicable to your case and to your post (Thompson is a world-renowned PC care specialist, and doctor to many here at HW/PC):

If you have a choice of a dollar today or a dollar 10 years from now, take the dollar today. But if you have a choice of a curative treatment for prostate cancer today or a curative treatment for prostate cancer 10 years from now, choose it 10 years from now.

Far too many men still don't take the time and effort to "separate the tigers (few) from the kitty cats (many)."

That last jump was a larger jump than the past ones, which is probably what got your Drs attention. But still, it was only one big jump. I'd do another PSA in a few months before making a decision, and maybe then an MRI guided biopsy.

Great that you've been able to snatch 8 years from the beast.

You need a biopsy to know if it still a "kitty cat" or if it have transformed to a "tiger" (= Gleason grade/T stage progression). PSA change has a weak correlation with progression.
