Headaches during RT?

Has anybody else experienced headaches during SBRT or other radiation treatment? It's not enough to take medication, but a sort of always present background lingering pain. Curious if this is common or if I'm just experiencing stress headache.

That's not commonly mentioned as a symptom of radiation therapy. I didn't have any headaches from it. Everyone seems to respond a little differently though. Have you had any history of that? It could be stress related too. I think having and dealing with cancer is a relatively high stress situation for anyone.

Are you staying well hydrated?

Nope, no headaches. The biggest headache was showing up everyday at the same time and drinking the water for the treatment. If I would have let myself I could have slept through the treatment. Here is a link to what my treatment was like.

Not something that gets reported often. I had general body/joint pains that came and went during treatments.

likely just stress, but best to mention it to your RO and techs.

The RT can setup a number of inflammations and other irritations. I took a couple of ibuprofen tables every day to help keep the inflammations down.

Nope. I felt great all the way through. Probably stress-related, as you surmise. Be sure to keep up your exercise schedule.

No, never had headaches. Could it be stress related? Or maybe a change in diet might have caused your headaches?

I did not have headaches, but I did have what felt like a fever, but was not. In other words, my face was a bit red, my ears were warm, and I was a bit lethargic. I took ibuprofen and tried my best to just power through it. After all, with SBRT the whole thing (treatments) is over in a couple of weeks.

I didn't have any side effects until I was almost finished with treatment. The next few months after ranged from annoying to uncomfortable to pretty darned uncomfortable - but none of it was bad enough for me to miss one hour's work time or one day's gym time. Hang in there. It may get worse for a while, and it may not. Some of us have side effects, others do not.

Much of my side effects load is probably related to pre-existing IBS, which increased my propensity to have intestinal side effects. If you had no problems before, you may just cruise through it all. I hope you do.

no headaches during my treatment .....but my allergies are sure giving me the dull headaches now ....David

Thanks guys, I'll make sure that I keep hydrated and I walk 5 miles daily. lapilot brought up a possibility that crossed my mind: change in diet to avoid gas. Anyway I worked in the backyard today, despite the rain, and I think my headaches have cleared up.

No headaches here, but I did have to stop taking Cialis during the week, as what is normally a low intensity and easily ignored dull back annoyance became pain when they set me up in the mold.

Ask the RO / techs. It may have to do with positioning that stresses a nerve that does not normally bother you.

But as a stated side-effect, I've not heard of it.
