Coming up on two weeks of IMRT...

So after two months on Firmagon, which by itself made my PSA go from 21 to 1.7, I'm now coming up on the end of the second week of IMRT (14 of 28 treatments).

I've read that the side effects of that typically kick in at two weeks. I know what the theory says could happen, but I'm curious about what others ran into at that milestone?

The side effects of HT, beyond the ED, have been pretty mild. The expected hot flashes and night sweats have been surprisingly tolerable, and fatigue almost undetectable. The worst one has actually been the two or three days of discomfort following the Firmagon shots.

Here's hoping the rest of the journey is that smooth! Right now I'm a bit intimidated by the upcoming HDR Brachy ... but then that's how I felt before the other treatments.

Hi IDea. I almost didn't reply because my IMRT experience wasn't the best but you have two weeks in so you seem to be having a better experience all around. I had some radiation enteritis almost immediately and that has stuck with me. A lot of guys will get some mild enteritis within the first few months but it goes away. Urinary issues will start to happen also, which is handled with a prescription of Flowmax. Hang in there and it will be over soon enough.
