In a different post I said that my husband had a PSMA PET scan done on Friday, and that the results showed some "multiple and intensely avid" lymph nodes (to cut sentence short).
My question though arises from the fact that at the same time as my husband was diagnosed with P.Cancer, he also was diagnosed with Melanoma Level IV on his leg. This was very quickly removed with surgery, but he had never had a follow up or check of any kind to monitor this. Surgeon at the time was very confident that all had been removed, and judging by the size of the volcanic crater in his shin, I can believe that.
Question:- Could the "intense avid lymph node" colouration arise from MELANOMA mets and NOT P.Cancer? I know that the PSMA seeks out the postate cancer cells, but would the PET scan also pick up any radical melanoma mets? I am not sure if I have worded this correctly, but hopefully you will know what I mean. I am annoyed that I did not think to ask specialist at the time.
cheers and thanks.
