On Tuesday, I go to get my tattoos for radiation. 28 sessions to my prostate and pelvic lymph nodes. I was told radiation was most likely out since diagnosis. So we have been discussing it for the last 6 months. Here we go!

Good luck to you, and congratulations on your progress so far with the ADT. I had my mapping scan and markers last week and begin ART in two weeks. Here we go! Hoping all goes well for you.

Flyboy, dont let them go crazy with the tattoos. Someone might mistake you for a biker. I got mine last week. Work of art. They brought in a tattoo specialist to do them. 4 dots the size of pin heads. Yep. I got me some tats.

It can be an endurance test, but you'll do fine.

Good luck with your treatment. My only tattoos, despite 4 years in the navy, are the three small dots from the radiologists. Wear them with pride.

My three tattoos were done by a girl radiation tech that I would swear was no older than 14 and still in junior high school. She actually was in her twenties, married and has one child.

The PA who prepped my wife to have her infusion port removed last Friday seemed very young. Lori guessed she was 18, I said 28. She told us she was 38 and has two children, one a teenager. When you get older, it must become more and more difficult to guess the ages of anyone younger than you.

My tats were disappointing. They used a sharpie marker, and covered it with some sort of thin adhesive clear plastic breathable film. In the 9 weeks I had therapy, they only renewed it once. I could shower with them and everything. Just be gentle, pat dry, and they held up the whole time. When all was complete, a little alcohol rub and they were gone.

I was hoping for something tribal, maybe some barbed wire. Or, maybe a tiny radiation symbol. Something fun. Alas, nothing now but a memory.

I'm considering having "No Cath - AUS" tattooed over my pubis. My wife jokingly mentioned it to my Uro and he replied that some guys do that, and that it is actually a very serious concern. Instead I've invested in several medical alert bracelets as I'm too chicken to go with the tatt... maybe until I get tired of putting on the bracelet every time I leave the house.

Same here, I was a bit anxious when she got near Mr. Happy with the needle tongue . I did have an embarrassing situation pre-surgery when the urologist's PA (young female) gave me a DRE. She said "I don't like this any more than you do." Roger that.

Isnt it strange the conversations you can have when you're that vulnerable? For my SBRT simulation, a young nurse came in to put a cath in. Yeeeouch. No bueno!!!!! While she's doing her work, we were discussing pizza shops in the old neighborhood. Same family owners almost 50 years later.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I was waiting to reply after my appointment. My lupron brain said Tuesday, but the appointment was supposed to be this afternoon. My rad onc called early this morning, and said that she got a reply from the main location of this med group. They said that they thought that I would be a great candidate for a clinical trial and we can do radiation any time. I'm waiting for an email with the exact study. It's an immune with vaccine from what I think I heard. Some pushback from the ins company for radiation. That is expected. No scans have shown conclusively, that I have Mets. The scans from the last couple of years result in...no findings to suggest metastatic disease. I'm gonna have a couple of barley pops, crank some tunes and retreat from all things cancer..for an evening! Tony
