Odd dark discoloration of skin on husband's member. Anyone experienced this?

Hubby had robotic prostatectomy on 9/18...discharged today ...No pain or discomfort from surgery only from the gas...BUT his skin on the shaft of his penis is BLACK...his testicles are OK...no pain...some bruising in groin area...he did have a Lovenox shot before procedure as he is 70....anyone know why the skin is BLACK (not just bruised) and how long it will take to clear up? The Doc is removing his cath next Mon and doing a C-stogram before removing cath...Comments would be appreciated.

The black color is probably a bit of blood pooled under the skin but he should call his surgeon's office and ask to speak to his surgeon's nurse. Surgeons are often quite busy and difficult to get on the phone but that is exactly the sort of question the nurse can answer (probably better than the doctor could.)

Probably just a hematoma or commonly caused a bruise. Very common after surgery. Some man's scrotum can be black and blue. I had a huge bruise on my right hip after robotic surgery and some bruising on my pubic area.
