Hi everyone
I was diagnosed with PCa some 4 months ago. I am 66 yo. PSA was 18. Biopsy Gleason 3=3=6.. Had had Robotic Radical Prostatectomy on August 1, 2017.Ca cells involved capsule but just shy of the dissected margin (0.1mm) Good post op recovery. Still experiencing the usual aftermath (leakage etc). Just had my PSA checked. It was 0.008. I tried to contact my surgeon but not available for immediate response. Is this level of PSA considered undetectable. Can I consider myself cured?
Thank you in advance

Welcome, confusedpt.
.008 is an excellent post RP PSA. I don't know that any of us can ever consider himself "cured" with perfect confidence. But you know - life is like that anyway. Really no need to contact your surgeon.
For now - celebrate.

confused, the definition of non-detectable is any reading that has a "<" in front of it. That being said, the number keeps going down as the sensitivity of the test keeps getting better.
Reality is, that for most researchers, a value that is less than 0.01 is certainly in the "great" category. Particularly in your case of being 6-8 weeks post surgery with an initial PSA of 43. Keep getting stronger, and sleep well. You're doing fine.

Yup, that's a great PSA report! I'll consider myself 'cured' of PCa if I die from something else

PARTY TIME!!!
Outstanding. That is considered "undetectable"
You've got nothing but good times ahead.

Yes of course you can consider yourself cured - what is the downside in that? That doesn't mean you can stop monitoring PSA. You can consider yourself cured (as I do in my case) as long as your PSA is this low.
"Undetectable" is a slippery term. It is relative to the test you had, so if there is a "<" it is officially undetectable. But you had such a super ultrasensitive test that it can detect amounts of PSA unrelated to the prostate. Let's just say that your PSA is so low that there is nothing to worry about
and lots to celebrate.
