Norm,
Ok, Ok Sorry for the late and non existent posting here so far. I did grow or try to grow out my mustache and goatee, in earlier years I rocked the full fu manchu mustache and goatee look. But this time, they came in all gray and scraggly even though my hair on my head is mostly brown with only a few grey hairs. This prompted a coworker to comment, "Dan you must be dying your hair all this time, your true color is grey" I had a hard time convincing him otherwise. This co-worker has sported a full beard ever since I have known him. He is well aware of my situation as I keep him posted regularly of my journey.
We share a mutual friend and co-worker Tom, who is struggling, with PCa ,high PSA around 700 and undergoing his 4th doxetaxel last week, also is having spot radiation on a bone met. Tom told me he could not grow a mustache even if we gave him 12 months.! Three other co-workers were aware of Movember and encouraged me. Others never made one comment or even noticed. Perhaps they did not want to embarrass me by saying how..strange it looked. One 25 year old co-worker participated, a family member had PC. His full beard came in within one week.
I missed out on a contest, but it was great to see on November 29th,a flyer at another building on the air force base. They were having a Movember mustache contest, with categories best mustache, longest, looking most like Magnum PI, looking most like Zorro, most looking like ZZ top, and more. I missed the contest and seeing the winners, but that kind of made my day and month , knowing that a lot of men there participated.
Alas, my wife asked me to shave it off immediately after Movember 30th, because it made me look like an old professor. I told her "But I am old !". A professor -no.
Norm, amazing great compilation of posters, and also seriously, thanks for calling us out to participate and to post. (but I doubt Celebrate Life grew a mustache of her own! )LOL and love to you too Norm!
