It's almost like I didn't get it... felt like literally nothing.

Anyone else experience this? .. or did my nurse forget to put in the drug? smile

I had both Lupron in the hip and Eligard in the stomach. The Lupron was a breeze by comparison.

The last one I had back in May didn't really hurt when the nurse did the injection but I started feeling it later that day (the injection was in the morning) and was still feeling it 5 to 6 days later.

The first one I had last Nov. hurt a bit (the injection) and I also felt it for several days.

It is all about the nurse's skill. Over the years, some shots have been non-events, others have been days of pain / annoyance. The nurse who was the best was taken away from me by whims of how insurance paid for the shot, and who they would pay to give it.

Ask for that nurse again next time!

lucky you. I just got a flu shot last week and that still hurts. Get a different nurse each year for that shot. Got a bad one this time.

I got my third lupron shot last week. The first two were non events. Didn’t even know when the nurse stuck me and no pain afterwards. This third time, a different nurse, I thought she used an ice pick. My daughter came with me to my MO visit, which was after the shot. She kept asking if I was ok. Had to sit on my right buttocks to keep pressure off my hip for the hour and a half ride home. Finally stopped hurting later that night. I guess its all in the technique and skill of the nurse

Well, I didn't feel it later, but I sure feel it now.

Like an Acorn in my right buttock. I got me a 6 month supply in there, good enough to last me until I get through SRT which starts 1st of the year 2018...

When do the horrible SE's start? ...

With me, the SE's didnt kick in for maybe a couple of weeks after the first shot. Now, they're just something I deal with. Fatigue is the worst one for me and took maybe 4 months to start affecting me. I feel like I'm just dragging all the time. I don't sit in one place too long. I may wake up an hour later. If I keep busy and moving, fatigue is less, but still there. Hot flashes maybe once or twice a day, mostly at night. Those started pretty quick after the first shot. No real loss of libido, just nobody right now to test it on......lol. And gradual weight gain. And a sudden irresistible urge to go shoe shopping with my daughter.......what the hell is happening to me?

I used to get one-month shots--they really weren't that bad. I felt the SEs in a few weeks and they really seemed to get going after about a month. The first couple of hot flashes were...amusing. But boy did they soon drive me crazy.

Good luck to you...it is a slog, but eventually you'll come out the other side of the rabbit hole. And having zero libido is actually kind of peaceful.

Ditto on the loss of libido... it's almost a relief after so many decades of that sex drive eating away at me. The hot flashes and mood swings were the worst for me. I got my GP to prescribe Venlafaxine which has helped with both tremendously. Some may gain weight or grow man boobs, but I have not... though I have lost a lot of body hair.

As for the shot, as others have said it depends on the skill of the nurse. My first shot hurt like a muthah for several days. The next one six months later was given by a different nurse and I didn't feel a thing. Like you, I suspected she forgot to give it to me. But the SE's let me know differently.

I had 3 years worth of Lupron shots. Some of the shots had nearly no sensation at all. Some of them were rather uncomfortable. It may be skill, it may be luck of the draw. Did they hit or come close to a nerve? Did they miss them entirely? Did they pinch up enough fat to handle the entire depth of the needle? Did they let the alcohol sterilizing wipe completely evaporate? Did they push the injection slow enough, or too fast? So many factors.

My first hot flashes hit a month after the first shot. Within about 2 more weeks, I was having 8-12 a day, including 3 or 4 every night. Just about every 2 hours. And the fatigue.... oh the fatigue. Debilitating. I could sleep any time I just stopped trying to stay awake.

But if it is what it takes, then you do it. The hot flashes were an ongoing reminder of my low T level, doing its job.
