PSA after RP confusion

My husband just went for first PSA following Davinci on 8/23. It was 4.5 and our MD wanted to start HT that day which was 10/13. Then he decided to first do a bone scan. They didn't even schedule the bone scan until 11/20. More than a month w a f/u on 11/24 to start HT. Question is we are anxious to start treatment but does a few weeks delay matter and should I continue fighting for earlier treatment or does it not really matter?

Did he have a bone scan before he had the surgery? If so, and I hope so, having one now isn't likely to show anything. Early mets are usually slow to show up. But as long as you've waited this long, why not get a PET scan? NIH is giving the best one (DCFPyL) away for free. Locally, you can probably get an Axumin PET scan. It would be nice to rule out any distant mets, so he doesn't have to go through radiation unnecessarily.

How old is your Hubby? I go along with Allen, Try to eliminate any distant spread before you get into any salvage radiation treatment..If the horses have left the barn, radiation is not going to help..Carefully managed ADT can work wonders but it's not a cure..
