For the record, I don't think I would have wanted to play golf the day after HDR brachy. I was still rather sore down there and I did have burning during urination for several days after each session. But...I know someone that went on a five-mile hike the day after his HDR brachy treatment. And there was a poster that occasionally pops in here who made love to his wife the same day as his HDR brachy treatment.

I have the first treatment 1/2 and the second 1/16. I don't know the details of the radiation yet, have a preop in a couple weeks. As to golf, the point was more how easy the post-op is for most guys. Denis

Subdenis...I understand. And I do think HDR brachy is not a difficult protocol at all, e.g. the guy that had sex the same day. But I do think the golf analogy the doc gave you overstates the ease just a bit. I'd be prepared for a few days of burning when you pee and you'll probably have to ease yourself into chairs for a few weeks since your bottom will be sore from where the catheters are inserted. But I do think it's a great treatment and I've certainly had success from it, as well as a ton of other guys here.

Thanks, Michael, I am sure there will be discomfort and soreness. I am happy to accept that versus 6 weeks of post-op limitations. Denis

I'm still of a mind that HDR mono-therapy was the best choice for me when I had my treatment in October 2014. I advise you to wear a watch when you go in for the treatment, and use it to time the dosages for pain killer meds. They gave me a hand operated trigger to use for pain meds, it had a 5 minute timer to prevent over doses. I learned to pump that button every 5 minutes for about a half hour before they re-adjusted the tubes, and also before they pulled the tubes out. Those were the only 2 unpleasant aspects of my treatment.

Thanks, Hawaii, I discussed pain meds, I have to avoid them and my doc said we would not need them. I may be getting a spinal block but I will readdress the issue.

FYI, even with the limits built into the pain pump, I totally overdid it on my first session. But the pain wasn't much from the procedure itself (although adjusting the catheters was uncomfortable), but due to my spinal stenosis and being on my back for so long. For my second session, we adjusted the back support and I sailed through. Just something to keep in mind if you have any back-related issues...

My procedures will be 1/26 and 2/6; got pushed a bit to get a colonoscopy first. I also have a ski trip t Utah with my son in January. Happy new year all. Denis
