39 of 39 sessions completed today!

Doc suggested at least 6 months more of lupron, but could not tell me of a SRT study that supported it...

He also said if we wanted to be super aggressive we would do some chemotherapy!!

Doesnt chemo have the chance to cause cancer?

Any of you guys have a RO suggesting things lile this, or is my RO insane?

Congratulations Zzarth!

That must feel great to have RT out of the way.

My RO said two months of Lupron prior to RT, and a total of 18 months on Lupron - so about 14 months post RT.

This seems to be the new standard of care in many circles. Chemo now seems like too much if the Lupron / RT does its job and eliminates the cancer.

Just my opinion.

Zzarth congratulations feels good hey? Hey I would certainly agree with Hardly Rob would wait for your 3 month psa give the body some repair time I was with a guy getting chemo and radiation at the same time he wasn't on lupron but let me tell you it just completely wiped him out. Let's hope with our treatment we are done and cured no better yet let's believe that we are cured!!!!!

Second item first, there's another thread active now by SchoolPsych about starting chemo after RP and RT. Several bros added being in a similar situation. Apparently it's about being safer now rather than sorry later on.

Which leads me back to the first item... yes, I suggested to my RO that he extend my Lupron by an additional six months, for 18 months total. He was actually all for stopping at one year. But I felt it was better to put up with six more months NOW rather than facing the possibility of having to go back into treatment some years down the road.

ROs Biagioli (FlHosp) and Abramowitz (UMiami) planned on 6 months of Lupron for me. The RO I've decided to work with in Guam, Dr Ko, is talking 9-12 months. No one has suggested chemo to me. Good thing, too, I probably woulda kicked him in the nuts.

SP...Dr. Ko earned a kick in at least one nut for suggesting anything more than a six month regime of Lupron. nono

WOW! Just found out that having PFO (hole in heart that never closed up after birth) greatly increases your chance of a stroke after surgery. I discovered that I have this condition after a exercise induced heart murmur was discovered back in 2014. I could routinely get my heart rate up to 200 when training with my inline race skate team. I have had 3 major surgeries this last year and especially with 35 lymph nodes removed with RP I really have to be thankful that I didn't experience a stroke!! Not feeling quite so tired today so the fatigue from Radiation must be starting to wear off! Of course reading this article has just helped that cause!!!!

AZ had RP, he doesn’t have a prostate. Can sex affect the numbers even after RP?

Good Morning Guys, I'm gonna go off topic here just a little, Yesterday Morning my wife had a mild heart attack we are now waiting for an angiogram this morning to see extent of damage and our next step in this journey. I'm so thankful that I was able to finish my treatments last week so I can he here for her this week a person just doesn't know what life can throw at you so just a reminder of how we have to be thankful for each day and live it to the fullest. It's been great to watch the olympics and see how some of the athletes have overcome serious injuries and came back to be on the podium. It so reminds me of the many people here on the Prostate Forum that have overcome so many challenges and continue to fight this beast called PCA and yet put forth a positive and uplifting spirit!!! Each and everyone of them deserve to be on the Podium!!

Hope everything turns out okay for your wife Larry - I fully appreciate the added stress.

Right as I was winding up my radiation therapy my wife's left leg hurt so badly she couldn't walk more than a few feet at a time. Long story short she had zero pulse in her foot and needed a vein bypass which turned out to be a huge deal. She was in ICU for about three days recovering. Then part of the incision got infected and I had to take her to the hospital emergency room. She needed one of those wound vacuums for about six weeks.

I'm not an emotional guy but when I came home from visiting her in the hospital, I cried. The stress of all that I had been through (and still having some SEs from Lupron) and then having my wife in ICU with this serious health issue was just overwhelming.

John my heart goes out to you for what you have endured and how well handled it . I don't think I would have been that strong! Maybe going thru this PCA journey makes us tougher I don't know but I will agree with you I think it is the lupron but I have become very emotional. Sometimes its bothersome but I tell myself it's a little minor thing and be thankful that I have emotions I can feel. Wishing you and your wife the best!

Thanks guys for all the kind words and thots and prayers. It went pretty good she had 80% blockage in the main vessel that feeds blood to the heart that's why she had so much pain. They only had to put in one stent they said the rest of the heart looked good so we were happy to hear that!! I had been really feeling bad that the stress the last 8 weeks with me gone getting treatment was the cause of her heart attack but actually it was plague so now she will have to go on Lipitor and watch her diet a little better. So we get to go home tomorrow looking forward to it! Thanks again

My advice for guys who are starting ADT... Suck it up and go forward. It's not that bad when you see the results. It's the best documented approach for our problem. We are all in GOD's hands...but do everything possible!
