Hello everyone! I haven't posted in a long time, although I do read everyday! This month marks a year since my husband had robotic surgery at MSK. Actually, December 15th was his year anniversary. This year at that exact date we boarded a plane to Florida to setup our condo for the winter! Wow, what a difference a year makes!
My husband's final pathology after surgery was T3aN1M0. One positive node found in fatty tissue, no positive margins, and no other organ involvement. To date his psa remains undetectable. No other treatment. Our team at MSK says do nothing as they do not want to overtreat.
Everyone's treatment choices are different and personal. I'm just here today to post his results so far and to possibly give hope to anyone facing this crappy disease! I thank God everyday, but especially now at the holidays because I have learned first hand how precious life is and how we need to live in the moment!
Merry Christmas!

This is wonderful news. I remember you posting on my first thread when my husband was diagnosed 2/2/17, just after your husband had recovered from his surgery, and I wondered how your hubby was doing! We went the radiation route with treatment, but with somewhat similar stats to your husband's, I'm SO encouraged to see that such a low PSA for you guys (implying that despite the Gleason 9, there really wasn't any micro metastasis). I'm so hoping that's the case for my guy too.
Thank you so much for posting this and Happy Holidays to you!

Sorry it took so long to reply! I hope your husband is doing well, I'm sure it's not been easy for him, or you. We have been busy living our life but I can tell you that I have many sleepless nights, even now, over a year since my husband has been diagnosed. The truth is, even though he is undetectable at the moment, his pathology did show one lymph node positive (found in the fatty tissue where cancer had spread outside gland). And that tells us that at some point, he will have a recurrence. Not sure when, but his choice was to wait and see. He did not want to go the hormone therapy route. His hope his that he will have some good years before his next treatment and then, maybe there will be something new that will help keep this at bay. He is well aware of the treatment plan, this is his choice!
Keep in touch! It's so important to be able to talk to someone who truly understands your situation.

It sounds to me as great choices are being made. May the two of you be well and happy.

Congratulations on your excellent results. Hoping to hear the same from you next year. Dr. Eastham would have been my choice at MSK also, but I was recommemded a different treatment plan. I hope I can someday be able to post great numbers as you have.
