Walking 3.5 miles 6 days after PC surgery

Hockey analyst Pierre McGuire diagnosed with PC. He had surgery Jan 4. In the article he was quoted saying that.... “I feel fine. I feel great,” McGuire said. “I’m walking 3 ½ miles every day. Can’t do much else because of the sutures.”
If true, he is doing very very good at 6 days.

From the SI.com report, it sounds like he's going to be a vocal advocate for early PSA testing. Good on him. Says he was diagnosed in September and his doctors recommended surgery, that he went ahead with it now to recover in time to cover the Winter Olympics for NBC in February. Says the cancer is Stage 1, makes you wonder why he didn't choose AS or at least put off surgery till after the Olympics.

That's a great recovery. If he was a walker or runner prior to surgery, and he got his catheter removed, I can see someone doing that. Once I had my catheter removed I could walk without much pain. I just couldn't do much lifting or torsion for a couple of months.

My catheter was in for two weeks and was rubbing me raw, so walking at 6 days would not be fun. Everyone is so different with these surgeries, plus hockey people feel no pain ;). Not glad he has PC, but glad to hear we have another advocate in the media that can reach a larger audience. All the best to him.

I believe him. I was walking over 3 miles a day about 2 weeks after my surgery. Good for him for staying active. I firmly believe it helped with my recovery to continence and overall recovery.
