I thought I would give everyone a brief update on my weird treatment situation.
I finished Radiation in February and was feeling good. Unfortunately in March my PSA shot up to 14 so we did scans. Bone scan was negative but CT scan showed a small mass on my right adrenal gland and a few lymph nodes in the surrounding area. At around this same time, I started having severe abdominal pain and subsequent testing led the Doctors to believe I had bile sludge in my gall bladder that needed to be drained. During this time I got very jaundiced. I was finally hospitalized and an MRI showed that one of the affected lymph nodes was causing an obstruction in my biliary system causing my liver to back up. So after a short hospitalization they put a stint in my biliary duct to let the liver drain. That is just a band aid however.
In the meantime, they need to address the cancer which is the real problem. Surgery was considered but ultimately the MO recommended starting chemotherapy (cyclophosphamide) on a weekly basis which I am now about
to start round 2. The hope is that they can shrink the lymph nodes and adrenal mass and move on to the next treatment option.
It's been a crazy Spring. I would just like a break but can't seem to catch one. I am guessing an immunotherapy trial is in my future after we get this fire put out.
Anyway, that's the latest. Looking forward to seeing everyone at GFMPH at Jeff's. Hopefully by then I can really challenge my liver
