Turned Down For Provenge

While much to my surprise the VA agreed to pay for Provenge as long as it was a good option for me as determined by the local lab that performed the procedure in Denver. I met with their doctor today and after an animated and informative discussion, the conclusion was reached that I was not an ideal candidate for Provenge treatment. The main reasons being: PSA too high, doubling time too high, tumor burden to high. The doc said I would be disappointed with the results.. His argument left little room for debate..

So we move on to chemo (Dosetaxel) and see what kind of response I get from that....

That sucks! Brings back memories of my struggle to obtain Provenge. Mr. Seals, Provenge won’t work for you. Mr. Seals, you have lung metastases. Mr. Seals there scientific evidence that says Provenge was compared to a faulty placebo. I believed Provenge was my best hope for any kind of success and I would not take no for an answer. All of us have to make our own decisions on treatment paths. I always knew that whatever road I traveled Provenge would be the first leg of it. I will be hoping and praying for the best outcome possible .
