I was looking through some old computer files and found this--written and saved 7 days after my RALP. I don't know if I posted it then...but it's appropriate at any time....(and I acknowledge that I am not the resident poet here)

Why do we suffer in silence?
Is it just machismo, stoic, stiff upper lip?
We are brothers, all fighting the monster
“We’ve got your back, bro”, is the call

No marches
No ribbons (should they be blue?)
No speeches by celebs

We suffer in silence
Except with each other
We share it all, the good, the bad, the ugly
And the funny

We are brothers
That is the answer
We do it differently, and that’s ok
In the end, we win.

Well, it looks like we have two good poets here on the forum!

Asking the question in the first stanza, answering it in the last. A central point (brothers who suffer), followed up by a statement about the power of sharing, with an underlying message that togetherness is the binding element here, and that it leads to winning
