Unusual rise in first PSA since April biopsy

My PSA jumped to 12.76 on Wednesday. Last reading in April was 4.29 prior to my biopsy. I did run a fever after biopsy but infection ruled out. Maybe 10 weeks was too soon for my quarterly draw? Ruined my encouraging consultation on that day. Not panicking.

I was advised to wait at least three months after a biopsy before having blood drawn for a PSA test, presumably because the damage to the prostate from the biopsy would skew the results.

I was told minimum 8 weeks but yeah last year I waited 14 weeks. This year only 10 weeks. My initial plan was to go mid July, but I was in the office. Maybe a few extra weeks would have helped. I’m going to hope redo in 2-3 weeks and this is an anomaly.

In 2013 I got a PSA peak of 9 after two biopsies in a 3 months period. A couple of months later it was at the previous level of 5 and stayed there for 4 years. I guess biopsies induce inflamation and PSA is always whimsical. Stay calm and recheck in a few months.
