I have posted that I recently had inguinal hernia repair by DaVinci. All went well.
I just got the bills and insurance/Medicare reimbursement EOBs today. Often I have said to pay no attention to the bill only to the reimbursements as they tell you what the providers negotiated for payment.
So, I was in the outpatient pre-op for about 90 minutes, surgery for about 90 minutes and post-op recovery for about 90 minutes. In all I walked into the hospital at a little after 6:00 am and was home just after Noon. I don’t remember more than 4 or 5 different people attending to me. I didn’t have any food.
All in the bill was for $31,242.00. about $6,000 per hour without being admitted for an overnight. Of that the providers made $27,017.54 in “adjustments”, Medicare paid 3,365.83 and my Plan G supplement paid the remaining $858.63. So the billed amount was roughly 800% of the mount the providers knew by agreement that they would receive for the procedure.
