A few days ago I had my latest PSA, it's unchanged at 0.08. That's four in a row. Yea!!!
For the first time my Onco actually discussed with me my treatment plan. I've had this crap for at least 5 years and I finally hear a plan.
1) HT vacation (I am on intermittent HT) YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2) When PSA goes up again, back on HT. (probably only 3-6 months, last vacation lasted 9 months before a rise occurred, but I'd been on L for 2 1/2 years, this time only 10 months)
(this is where I finally heard the plan)
3) When I become castrate resistant, either Erleada or Xtandi
4) If mets can be seen wherever they are then either Chemo or Zytiga.
I know for most of you you have likely had these talks earlier in your journey. But for me, I'm thrilled he at least brought his thoughts out. This and the fact that one of the hospitals in town, now has an Axumin PET scan, I'm pretty happy. Maybe Topeka, KS isn't the south end of a north bound horse. We have two hospitals, one is associated with Mayo (not the cancer center) , the other hospital was taken over by KU Med.
All in all, it's not really that much, but considering I've been contemplating going to St Louis or Omaha for better care, it's been a good day.
I do still wish he was more aggressive with treatment. I'd be willing to put up with the misery.
