I recently had an operation so that a Catheter could be fitted. 5 years ago I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and had 20 sessions of Radiotherapy. I had no problems until the operation to fit Catheter. I Now have a permanent catheter. My additional problem now is that I have blood constantly in the Catheter bag. I was admitted to my local Hospital last week for four days with Anti biotics being administered. Towards the end of the Anti biotics my urine was normal thus the Consultant sending me home.
The blood in Catheter bag has now returned. I’ve been to my Doctor who has sent a letter to the Urology Consultant.(We are paying private)
My concern is that I think the prostate will be removed. What are the repercussions of such an operation?

That sounds bad. Why did you have the operation? Why would they remove the prostate? Do you have prostate cancer?

Likely just an infection. Sometimes those can be tough to resolve.

In your case removing the prostate might not be that big of a deal. Normal side effects are incontinence, ED and the normal risks of surgery.

Why would you need a permanent catheter if you had no problems? What has changed?
