Results are 1.64 up from 1.45 on 6/1/17

Well I had my psa on Friday, results came back 1.64 I had my last one on 6/1/2017 and it was 1.45 so it went up in 17 months
I see my URO in a month for the DRE.. last time he told me prostate felt “ soft and boggy” and enlarged.
It’s been enlarged for years.
I’m 59 now...
Now I know psa sometimes increases with age and having an enlarged prostate adds to that but should it increase like this in just 17 months ??
Last time it went from 1.16 on 3/2015 to 1.45 on 6/2017 so .29 in 15 months.
Now it went up .19 in 17 months
Just seems like if it keeps going up at this rate....
Guess I’ll see what the DRE shows and what the URO says
I was hoping for no increase but I kinda knew it was going to go up a little...
Well as far as I know I don’t have pc...
Thank you for letting me vent and listening .. again I feel a little guilty knowing what most here are going thru or have gone thru .

I don’t see what your issue is, other than your OCD. Your doubling time is “forever”. Go enjoy life.

You're 59? You probably DO have prostate cancer. Probably some minuscule amount that's never going to do you any harm whatsoever. But so to 60% of ALL other men your age, but only a tiny, tiny, tiny fraction of those men have what we would call "serious disease"...something that actually needs treatment. Most of those men will never have any reason to go poking around looking for it, and they will live their full life expectancy without ever knowing they have been walking around with PC for many years. Some of those men, on the other hand, will jump onto the slippery slope which leads to biopsy then to treatment for emotional reasons and will end up scarred for life...even though their PC was no worse than many of those others who lived full life expectancy and never worried about it. Those are just the absolute facts. Think about it.

Rule of thumb: The harder one looks for PC, the more likely that they are to find it.

Thx again fellas, not sure why this worries me, I’ve had and have other issues that bother me but this seems to concern me every year before I get tested.
Wish in a way I’d just stop the test... but don’t think that’s wise either...

Lets say your prostate is a somewhat enlarged at 40cc's as an example. If 30cc's is normal, then your extra size alone might be be enough to increase your PSA from 1.0 to 1.64, perhaps even more. Ask your Uro what the formula is to estimate PSA based on prostate size. I remember when my PSA was rising at each visit my URO said I had a large prostate at 50cc's and he estimated my PSA would be over 3.0 just based on a healthy prostate that size.

55 grams, or 55 cubic centimeters...same, same.

That's big, but not yuge.

You may calculate your psa density dividing your psa by your prostate size in cc. or grams. Less than 0.05 indicates a satisfactory low number. Yours is about 0.03. Check your psa every year and avoid worrying about it unless you see a clear rise, say 0.5 or more. Your prostate is moderatly enlarged.

Quit wasting our time and go enjoy yourself........................LOL...........................
