Hi guys
Im post SRT now about
9 months from completing radiation and 6 month ADT... i had my latest uPSA Friday and im completely stressed out waiting for my results from Fridays test.
I guess if my PSA goes up now then Im looking at METS, so completely freak8ng out ...
Anyone have any good mental tricks or tips on lowering the fear factor of waiting on PSA results that I may be able yo adopt?
Thanks
Zzarth

PSA anxiety is unavoidable, there is nothing you can do about
it. I always asked the nurse to let me know the result ASAP at least it shortens the time of stress. Overtime, the anxiety will decrease but never really go away. Good luck.

Practice mindfulness.
Is there anything you can do right now to change the outcome? Is worrying helping you?
Distract your mind - see a movie, read a book, go somewhere special, talk to a friend, talk a walk, see a therapist, buy a red sports car, split firewood, do a favorite hobby, sign up to help serve meals at a homeless shelter, offer to drive seniors to medical appointments - do anything else but sit around and think about
it.
The results will come soon enough and you'll have your answer - good or bad.

This doesn’t really answer your question, but the results are done. Can’t you just call the doctor’s office to find out?

Can you access the results yourself online? Even out here in Saipan, I have online access to the lab and get my uPSA result within 72 hours of the blood draw -- long before the doctor's office gets around to calling me. The best way to fight anxiety is to cut the wait time.

Acceptance (as opposed to resignation). That doesn't mean you have to like it. And it doesn't imply you won't.
And if that proves illusive...,

Zzarth, just want to wish you good luck.
I really am praying that you get a “<“.
Please let us know as soon as you can.
You probably know there’s nothing that can be done about
PSA anxiety is just a part of the game, and unfortunately we all just have to deal with it

None of us handle waiting very well. I'm especially bad at it. I talked with my primary care doctor's nurse a few years ago while in for my annual and explained how anxious it is waiting for results. She understood. I asked if she would be so kind as to call me asap with results. I send her an email through the portal a week or so before my test, ask her to schedule my lab for 8am and remind her to call me. She has never let me down, always calling me the same afternoon as the early morning test. I appreciate her extra effort and thank her with a gift card or box of chocolates occasionally. Also, I used walk-in-lab for the first time this month with Labcorp (different lab than my doctor uses) to compare results. I got results back in 24 hours which I understand is the usual response from them. As others have said, you do what you can and try to accept what comes. I cant change the outcome, but I can know it sooner by being a little proactive.

WOOT WOOT.
Thanks all for the advice ... I'm going to have to find a way not to freak out every 3 months....
I like the idea of buying a new red sports car ... maybe Tesla Model 3

Great.....consider a real sports car, like a Porsche. It will reduce your stress even more, give you a constant grin - moving or standing still, and it comes in red.
With a wonderful PSA of <0.006, if you freak out in three months, before your next blood draw, you may need to visit a different kind of specialist ;)

Congratulations Zzarth! Wonderful news as it was a biggie post ADT. Did your doctor ask you to retake in 3 months? After my good results post the ADT wearing off my doctor asked if I'd like to retake the PSA in 6 months or a year. I selected 6 months.
