4 1/2 years ago, I walked into Mt Sinai Hospital with great trepidation, prepared to lose my prostate, and who knows what else along with it. Sick to my stomach, but filled with anticipation that the day had finally arrived and I was on my way to putting this behind me.
So it was more than a little weird this morning, when I walked back into that hospital gain for the first time. But this time it was for a great occasion.
At the age of 68, on Cinco De Mayo, I finally became a Grandfather. Lukas James, 7 pounds 3 ounces.
It’s not often we get to share great news here. So I thought it would be good to share. What a wild day.

Wonderful news, Prato! I know how it feels to go back "through the doors" as I have done that sort of thing myself. Not for a grandchild, though. That's a real Red Letter Day!
My mother used to say that ". . . The best things about
grandchildren are that you can spoil them rotten and they go home at night." Now that I have two grandsons of my own, I can see the wisdom in her words. I hope you get to enjoy the little one very much.

Wonderful news! Congratulations.
Go in one time and lose a cancerous prostate.
Go in next time and exit with a grandchild.
Pretty good track record you have with that place, bud...

Congrats Prato, and welcome to the crowd! Today I was at the Baccalaureate service at church for the HS grad of my 1st Grandson! Now you must hang on for 18 more years so you can do the same!

Congratulations! I have gotten to experience that many times. Well, the second part of the story. We are at 13 and number 14 is on the way due in June.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.
It’s funny, the kids told me the only debate was, should it be Lukas with a K or Lucas with a C.
My son in law, whose name is also Ken, won out. His argument was it should be with a K, out of “respect to the Ken’s ) lol.
I am still flyin high.
Thanks again to everyone. A thread about
happy things, about
the miracle of life, is uplifting. I hope it lifts everyone up on some level.

I've been off HW for a few days and it's great to sign back in and read things like this. Congratulations to you, the parents and here's to Lukas having a fulfilling life on this planet for for next 90 years! (Wow, that's 2109...)

I suggest that watching and playing with grandchildren is better for your health than hanging out on a PCa forum.
Congrats to the parents and grandparents!

Thanks again all.
bbqdude, wow, 13 and 14, amazing, es-ecially at such a young age. Good on ya.
Mumbo, yup, a great diversion indeed.
Gary, thank you. And yeah I agree, but I don’t think I’ll ever leave this place. It’s too valuable, if approached correctly.
I am , however, taking a few days to just chill and enjoy the moment without any distractions, aside from checking in here I might post a bit less. But just temporary.
