I was just wondering guys. This is new territory for me but I figure some of y’all might have an answer to my question. If you already have prostate cancer can you take Flomax to calm bad urinary issues?

That is the first thing my doctor prescribed. He wanted to easy urinary symptoms before beginning treatment.

I was unable to take it, I stopped after 3 days however do to side effects.

I used Jalyn during radiation. It combines Flomax with Avodart. Helps with urinary and shrinks what prostate there might be. Worked fine.

I used Flomax, although I shifted to Rapaflo. Still use it on a semi-regular basis.

Todd - try saw palmetto first. surprisingly been working very well for me.

Hey Todd I tried Flomax and Rapaflo and found no relief. As a matter of fact the Rapaflo had my bladder doing spasms.

I opted for a camera to go up the urethra which found a blockage. Weeks later I had a Turp no looking back, I pee like a teenage boy now. That was 2 yrs ago and all is well.

Thank you Ed and others. Mentor, what Were the side effects. Ed I will try to Palmetto I forgot all about that. As I said this is really uncharted waters for me. Oddly enough I was looking online last night and found that Aleve causes urinary retention. I have been taking Aleve add a dosage of two pills at night before bed into pills in the morning when I wake up. I have been having difficulty sleeping due to annoying shoulder pain. I think the first thing I’m going to do is cut down on the aleve

Can't think of any reason why you shouldn't take Flomax is your doctor thinks it will help. It's basically a muscle relaxer that loosens the smooth muscles around your prostate to make it easier to pee. It doesn't affect the parts of the prostate that get cancer and I can't find any prostate-cancer-related warnings. I took it (and similar drugs) for years before I had my prostate removed and found the side effects negligible.

If I took it at the same time of day as my irbesartan (blood pressure drug) for the next few hours I tended to get slightly woozy when I stood up suddenly.

If I took my irbesartan at the same time as Cialis the combination would sometimes make the world turn blue. Adding flomax to the same fistful of pills would add sensitivity to bright lights to the mix.

If I took my flomax at least one hour before or after my other pills there were no noticeable side effects... except it being easier to pee.

I took flomax many years before pca, it made me dizzy when I stood up (took a bp pill too) had to quit it because I was too lightheaded

The first day I took it my heart became irregular . at night. By the third night it became so bad I just asked God to get me though and I promised him I'd never take it again. LOL (but true)

Also, I got very dizzy the 3 days I took it upon standing.

and lastly, getting up at night to pee I would get so weak in my stomach I would have to sit to pee.

Hi Todd... I have taken Flomax twice a day for almost 3 years due to some radiation damage issues that causes dysuria (burning). I have had no side effects from it. It just helps. Good luck. -JR

Hi Todd. My hubby has been taking it without issues for about a year.
