Well, I may have become a Hawkeye fan.
I just read that IU built a children’s hospital that has a section that faces the football stadium.
This area is only for the children and their families.
And after the first quarter of each game, the fans are asked to turn towards the hospital and wave to the kids.
Good job Hawkeyes.

As you know I’m a Hawkeye. Spent the first 30 years of my life in Iowa. Good Midwestern values, possibility mixed with with some life views I didn’t always agree with. Got my BS there and worked at the UI labs and clinics for a number of years. It’s not surprising to me that they give the brave kids the recognition.

People doing great things for others deserve to be recognized.
KSU has Fort Riley within 20 miles of it, and every year has a Ft Riley day where they invite a few thousand or more to the game. And then they are recognized.
And that's great, but what IU is doing for the kids humbles me to no end.

Millions of people do amazing things for other folks every day. It just doesn't make good media copy, so keep the faith.

OT of the OT:

I think it is great to see when corporations, albeit alleged not profit or otherwise go out of their way to show grace to others. I love finding out about famous people who did great charity work their whole working careers and tried to do it with no one finding out. Those are true heroes in my book too.

Mattam- I am working in the Toledo area this week and am thinking about going to the UM vs Iowa game this weekend. I did not quite bring he right close for 55-60 degrees, but it isn't every day I get to see my team play.

Michigan is always tough at home, no matter what. I’m not sure Iowa deserves 14 rank. Hope it’s a good game.
Unfortunately we won’t get to see the salute to the kids.

It's a very moving and powerful thing that they are doing --- recently, an Iowa State University Fan held up a "Send Beer Money" for fun, which has now generated $3 million dollars for Stead Children's Hospital in Iowa City during the annual Iowa State Hawkeyes vs. Iowa State University Cyclones rivalry game.

The sign went viral, and the money came pouring in -- it will improve the children's hospital, the kids, and generate more research funds. Huge news story here! Tremendous!

All from the kindness ... and GENEROSITY ... of strangers, after watching a football game! Three MILLION dollars?!!
