Sowhat kind of psa rise in man w/o PC is normal per year ?

Im anxiously awaiting the results of my PSA last week...I always hate seeing any rise and ive been told here "some" rise is normal
Im 60 with enlarged 55 g prostate...
Going back to 2008 my psa was 1.08....
then in 2015 it went to 1.16
then in 2017 1.45
then in late 2018 1.64
Now Fridays test will be 1 yr and 4 months since last test....what would be an expected not to worry increase to see ?
I really want to be the guy that just visits here and never becomes a member, nothing personal smile

You have nothing to worry about...where does this worry com from...what prompted your concern to begin with back when you were 50...that's a lot of time "wasted" in worry....is this to be a life long worry...stay here if you like...tho Im sure you have to know that nothing is wrong...but something is the matter....

I putting my money on you getting hit by a bus before PCa. Seriously, I am with logo on this. Not sure where all the worry is coming from unless you have a family history of men dropping dead without any PSA evidence to support a PCa investigation. You are well below the threshold for 60 year old men, especially with an enlarged prostate, and it would probably take a doubling of your last PSA to get someone's attention. Hope you can relax a bit when you consider that many of us do this every 3 months.

Humm yea I guess when I see a trend of raising psa I get worried...
I dread the psa test and waiting for the results...
I started getting tested in 2000 when I was 40 because my GP included it on my blood work ...
No family history..
In 2000 it was .4 and every year about the same...
In 2009 it went to 1.08 then stayed around 1 until 2015 went to 1.16 then 1.45 in 2017 then 1.64 in 2018

Just seems the last 3 yrs it’s moving more rapid...

Sorry to bug you guys , I know most of you here have much bigger issues

Don't worry about bugging any of us. Only way to get answers is by asking and searching. However, as the other guys have said, despite your PSA climbing, it is still way below the level where a urologist would raise alarm bells. I could be mistaken, but believe anything under 4 in a man who still has his prostate is disregarded. I hope yours stays low. Also, a number of activities (sex, bike riding, etc) can cause a slightly increased PSA so there may really be no difference between the various 1.whatever readings.

I usually stay off the bike a week before the test, out of the “ saddle” for 4 days before... no alcohol for 3 days etc...
I figure if I always do that I’ll have consistency...
And I thought more than the number was the rate of increase ? Like if I went from 1.6 to 3 in a year, I’m still under 4 but the rate at the increase was the concern

The usual criterion that I see cited as PSA velocity being a concern is a rise of .7 or more in a year.

That said, PSA is so easily affected by so many factors, as folks have mentioned, that you can’t rely on any one change.

What Johns Hopkins has found valuable, in it’s 25 year AS experience, is PSA Density. You may want to look that up.

Well I got the results .. 1.63 so it’s actually down a teeny tiny bit .,, but it’s not up !
I haven’t had my DRE yet and that’s set for April because I have changed UROs due to my normal one passed away..
