Ouch, I feel for you Trailguy. After my first shot of Eligard I got a raging case of gutate psoriasis on my legs. Six months later a shot of Lupron helped spawn shingles on my right side. So, yes, we mess with hormones and things can go haywire.

Reviewing signatures, I see that we shared age and many similar components of dx, other than PSA. Have fun hiking.

Well... I spoke to my oncologist yesterday, even after I decided not to go to Seattle on my own and with reports from my son. Here’s what she said, “Your immune system is not considered a risk due to time passed since treatments. Your age is border line by way of CDC...but 65 is not a high risk age. But...if you contract a lingering corona virus and require further treatment due to recurring cancer, you could have a problem. Don’t risk it!” When you think about this it makes perfect sense. Common sense prevails most of the time. Good doctors know what that is.

Seattle update bonus: My son, and daughter in-law, are working from home. Their daughter’s day care is closed until further notice. They have in-home help for their daughter and a home that can handle the conflicts of activity. They are fortunate that they can continue like they are. They only go out when necessary. Seattle is ground zero in the U.S. for this pandemic. Other cities may face similar mandatory shut down in the coming days and weeks.

Me? I’m stocked up with my favorite adult beverages, watching my retirement portfolio shake, rattle, and roll! Ain’t life grand?! Well.... I am PSA undetected again! So... yes, all is well. We have face time! Stay well my friends.

We decided to cancel our planned trip to Vegas next week. It was a bucket list item anyway, and we got a full refund on the airfare. We were considering cancellation even before the COVID hysteria broke out, as our older son had just been diagnosed with T-cell leukemia (ALL) and will be hospitalized for the next month. Sad part is we can't travel to be with him and he is really taking it hard.

The question now is whether to proceed with my own medical procedures. I have my routine bi-annual esophageal biopsy in two weeks and am finishing up some gum grafts, but cancelled a planned eustachian tube dilation (yes, all my problems are in my head). Big issue now is getting into Costco to pick up meds, as the line at the pharmacy goes all the way back to the toilet paper queue.

The insanity continues...

Some families get an unfair allocation of health issues. As we all know, your son is battling during a time of the best cancer treatments in history. Hang in there and blessings to your son and family.
