Shout out to the New England Patriots for circumventing the US federal governments' impounding of Massachusetts' much - needed medical supplies. Good move, real Patriots . smile

The Kaos is started i know you spell it chaos but that's what is happening in America right now! My heart goes out to the people that have lost loved ones and the people that are experiencing the ravages of this virus right now. But I'm getting tired of Chris Cuomo complaining everyday about fever and not being able to sleep. What do cancer patients live with every day? Over 600,000 lost their battle with cancer last year in the USA! How many of us guys that have been and are still on the different ADT treatments sleep at nite? Hospitals in Boston are laying off Doctors and medical staff just like here in Minnesota while people are needing treatment for cancers, heart problems, and other crippling disabling diseases. We had two appointments set up for my wife in Duluth and at the Mayo for her to get her hip replaced we were going to take whichever came first and she is just about bed ridden from pain she lays on the couch or bed crying herself to sleep as she can't take pain medicine as it makes her sick. Both medical systems have cancelled her appointments. How many other people are experiencing this same situation? Again America does what it usually does with everything we go way the frick overboard!!!! Get the ************** media to quit glorifying this tragedy, Get the government to quit patting them selves on the back! Let the hardworking men and women of America work together like they have in the past. Who manned the factories during the terrible world wars? who fought in the trenches? It wasn't the government and it sure wasn't the press!!!!!!! And the worst part it wasn't the rich CEO's!!!! The same ones who wouldn't let their hospital systems purchase PPE and other medical equipment needed for a time like this!! They keep talking about the other side if this KAOS continues will there be another side? So glad I live in Northern MN it's only 8 degrees this morning don't think the virus likes these kind of temps. Think I'll take the dog out for a walk and listen to the birds singing. I. A way, maybe you should hope you test positive, now that you are on the downslope of the illness. This would (Might?) mean you’ve got immunity?

If one feels that it's chaotic right now, imagine what it would be like if half the country was infected with covid19 at the same time. Perhaps a tour of a front line ER would provide an attitude adjustment.

Agree with Trailguy - just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

There is nothing overblown about the reports of the disaster sweeping through New York right now. We in Massachusetts are running probably a couple of weeks behind NY, but the reported known cases and deaths are following a similar steep curve. I had a professor who once compared exponential growth to lily pads covering a pond. If the area covered doubles every day, the day you notice the pond is half covered is the day before the pond is entirely covered.

The convention center in Worcester a dozen miles to my south is now prepared as an overflow 250 bed hospital as an extension of UMass Medical center. A state college arena 15 miles to my west is being prepared as a temporary morgue.

I'm having several flashbacks to Vietnam - the large stacks of of empty aluminum coffins outside the mortuary near Danang air base. Also thinking of the night as part of a small American navy detachment on a Vietnamese navy base. The Vietnamese sailors insisted we share a small taste of their wine as part of their Tet holiday celebration -- none of us knowing we were hours away from the you know what hitting the fan.

Screw your hats down. This is real.

Yes, there are similarities. But a big difference for me is that in Nam we pretty much knew what might be coming at us on a given night, or on a given patrol.

What's so utterly frustrating about this COVID thing is that there are so many unknowns!

Will having it provide immunity from future attacks? Unknown.
Will warmer weather reduce its spread? Unknown.
When will the number of cases of it reach an apex? Unknown.
How reliable are the predictive statistics for it that we are reading? Unknown.
Etc., etc.

I think just identifying and sharing with the public a few actually confirmed facts about this thing might give us not only a better feel for what we're up against, but would also, while not decreasing the seriousness of it all, maybe make at least some of the paranoia go away.

2019...cough and fever sure sounds suspicious. I'm glad you got tested and I'm also glad that you're on the mend! If I may ask, where did you go for your testing? 48 hours is a pretty good turnaround time based on what I've been hearing.

Sorry to hear that! It's real, all right. There are so far very few cases down here in this low population southern state, but just yesterday a close friend of a close friend, probably in his 60s, died of it. He was a locally well known musician, died in the hospital I used to work in.

On the good news front, on the other thread I had reported on the grand niece of a HS friend, a 33 year old cardiac nurse, who was on the ventilator, it was looking grim. But after about a week on the machine, she was finally off of it and things were looking much better for her. But at the moment they got that news, her mother and grandfather were admitted with severe respiratory issues. But the news I have now is that they are ALL improving and non critical. So, good to have some good news to report for a change.

Michael, thanks - and thanks to all of you for the concern. Given what's been happening all over the world and here in our country, my little deal is nothing.

Skypilot - so so sorry to read about your wife. I'm not a praying person but I'm sending all good thoughts her way, and yours.

InTheShop - my heart goes out to your relative. darn (a stronger word before censorship). The positive thoughts out to her are as deep as I can muster.

Michael, to answer your question - there were several testing centers offered. The one I picked was outside Dodger Stadium. And of course the 48 hours was extremely optimistic on their part, as it's now been a week.

Courage, everyone. We are indeed all in this together.

2019 - take care of yourself. Hope they get you a result soon. 6 days is horrible.

I got word today that my sister-in-law is holding her own on the respirator and she's expected to be in the hospital for at least a week.

Thanks Mattam I didn't take your post personally I know everybody has different circumstances involving covid-19. There are probably only a handful of people left from the last terrible plaque of 1918 and they probably don't remember so it's a very sad new learning experience for the whole world . I also looked back at my post and saw that I could have said things a little different also. I guess I was trying to say personally I am very scared for this great country and the freedom's and values that have made us a great nation for such a long time, like I told my brother yesterday I hope when we come thru this I can be the first to admit that I was wrong everything turned out just fine!!!!! Indeed, Gary. All excellent thoughts.

My wife and I thank our lucky stars every day, often more than once, that we have a roof over our heads, the time and (relative of course) enough money not to worry for now and furthermore live in a neighborhood within this megacity that is leafy, hilly and affords us room to walk with the pooch every day amid single family dwellings, chatting with friends and neighbors from across the narrow streets and generally going about life much as we always have.

Sure, we worry for friends and family and the world. I may do more of this than some but that's my nature. My wife's daughter, my step-daughter, is a physical therapist in a busy hospital on the other side of town who just went through a brutal year and a half of breast cancer treatments. Her son is in England and has 4 little kids now cooped up in the house. (how he handles that I have no clue we love them all to pieces but man, I couldn't take it)

My wife is sewing masks. She got a pattern from a guy up the road who makes high end dresses for big fashion companies. He's turned out 50 so far and man are they beauts. He puts them in a box by the curb "free masks" and has moved them all. And he continues with his industrial machine.

We've so far been able to get one Whole Foods Amazon order in (where we never usually shop - too expensive) and neighbors have been kind enough to bring us stuff (and they even make us pay for it... the nerve!). Life goes on.

Saturday I awoke to some pretty drastic floaters in my right eye. Long story short I ended up over at the medical building to see a retinal surgeon. The place was eerie - deserted, dark, weird. I've been there many times. Took the elevator to the top floor, the waiting room was dark, the blinds drawn. Anyway the eye doc walked in (we were both be-masked and be-gloved, natch) and did the exam. It was only floaters thankfully. But what a strange experience.

My heart goes out to... well, everyone.

David...any news on your test results yet? How many days has it been?

PS Bummer about the floaters. I'm hoping that my wife and I have zero medical issues during this period. And not just medical issues, no plumbing issues, no leaking roofs, etc.
