A few weeks back I indicated I was interested in this clinical trial

It looks like a statistical survey study to see how far Covid has spread.

Yesterday I received an email asking me for some additional demographic data (age, race, state, county). So we will see if they need my demographic to fill out their sample.

So I am guessing this audience might have a higher than normal number of people who would be interested in participating in such a clinical trial. smile

Sounds bizarre that you do the blood draw at home with what sounds like a finger prick. But if you go to one of the sites they are drawing 2 tubes of blood. I'll have to email the sponsor.

about a year ago I posted about a clinical trial for covid.....a serosurvey to try and quantify how many asymptomatics were out and about for each confirmed case.

So today I received an email where they published the results of that effort.

At the time of the data collection (May through July 2020) for every person who tested positive there were 4.8 others that went undiagnosed.

So if you exptrapolate that 4.8, lets call it 5 cases undiagnosed for every one diagnosed, we have had about 150 million cases, more than half the adult population. Doesnt make sense to me, i would think that if half the adult population had some type of immunity, we wouldn't be seeing the surge we are starting to see now, and in fact the numbers would be going down.

I took their 4.8 number as a multiple of confirmed cases from last Spring.....when testing was not as widespread/available. In the results it says

“ These data indicate that there were 4.8 (95% CI: 2.8-6.8) undiagnosed cases for every diagnosed case of COVID-19 during this same time period in the United States, and an estimated 16.8 million undiagnosed cases by mid-July 2020.”

That’s a good point Stephen, maybe at this point with widespread testing, the number is lower the last 6 months or so
