As many of you know, my parents were both diagnosed with COVID-19.
My mom is resting and recovering at home.
My dad is in a critical care hospital unit, receiving oxygen 'round the clock.
COVID-19 has impacted his kidney function. Dad is also battling bacterial pneumonia in both lungs, due to COVID-19. His situation is described by his doctor as "severe" ... and the virus overtook him quite suddenly.
To add to this thread's topic ...
Dad received an IV infusion of CONVALESCENT PLASMA, donated by a COVID-19 survivor.
The idea is that the donated plasma will contain that survivor's "fighter" antibodies, to potentially help my dad's recovery.
Mayo Clinic has conducted research on the potential of convalescent plasma infusions for COVID-19 patients.
Their research continues ...
Thought I would add this post to the thread, since Dad received the convalescent plasma infusion this past week.
I hope CONVALESCENT PLASMA infusions can help corona patients.
It also underscores the importance of blood donations in our communities. Blood donations are also used for many cancer patients, as well.
While some of us here are unable to donate blood, due to medical reasons, we can consider making a charitable donation to a local blood bank, or find ways to volunteer at future blood drives.
Let's hope the full power of CONVALESCENT PLASMA infusion treatments can be fully unlocked.
