Sorry that I haven't posted in a while....Danny has had some reoccurrences after being cancer free for 5 years. In 2018, a tumor was found in his penile urethra and went thru 25 rounds of radiation very successfully. Then in 2019, a tumor on his sacrum showed up, then a few months later a tumor was found on his right anterior rib. Both were radiated at the time we found out; and both have stopped growing. Last spring a tumor showed up on his L1 vertebra; however we decided to try the oral chemo Zytiga to see if it could help this one and to keep the other ones from getting bigger. So far, so good. The tumor on the vertebra is staying stable and so are the ones that were radiated in 2019. Thankfully, all the metastasis to the bones have been small spots, that we've been able to manage. Also thankful that Dr Tu is pleased enough with Danny's progress that we can go back to 6 month checkups instead of 3 months that we've been doing for a couple years.
Back in 2013 when we started, there wasn't much optimism when we left Duke. The power of prayer, going to MD Anderson, and having Dr. Tu as our doctor is what has kept Danny alive and doing relatively good. I've still be trying to find new information on ductal, and there still isn't much other there. Then it hit me, I don't need to look for answers, all I have to do is look at my husband....he's doing better than anything on the internet says he should be doing. Yes, he has bad days as he battles other ailments that are directly and indirectly caused by all that he's had done. But the cancer itself really isn't causing much pain....and we pray every day that it can stay that way for a while!!
Even though I don't look here as often as I did when we first began this journey, I still keep all in my prayers as ya'll continue your battles with the beast.
