Just looking for some insight

Would appreciate any thoughts you may have.

I recently turned 38 a few weeks ago and, up to this point, have been very healthy. I’m approaching 20 years in the military in a few months, quite a ride as you can imagine.

2 weeks after I turned 38 I noticed I had a slight pain in my right kidney, lasted 2 days. Maybe 2 days after that I noticed some blood in my urine. Told my wife who forced me to the Dr.

Dr’s ran blood work, xrays and urinalysis. They did this twice over 2 weeks, everything was “fine” they said. Couldnt determine what caused the blood.

A few days after the blood in urine episode, I noticed my urethra hurt and I had slight pain in my perineum. I saw the Dr again who perscribed Doxycycline for 7 days.

Symptoms went away, minus slight discomfort when I sit. I also noticed when I sit that my legs tingle some after a while. I have no other symptoms, no urgency to pee or pain while peeing.

I’m nervous about this only because I have never been sick or hurt, maintaining a high level of fitness as I have bern part of a spec ops field which requires it. I also have a young family.

What do you guys think? My Dr doesnt seem very worried. Should I be? Appreciate any thoughts.

You are pretty young for prostate issues. I had acute prostatitis in my 30’s that hit hard and was cured with sulpha drugs pretty quickly after a emergency room visit and scans. The symptoms were obvious as I had trouble peeing, blood in urine and fever symptoms. Other forms can be can be much less obvious and take an extended course of drugs to clear up.

The question would be if you had a PSA test done as part of the testing? A prostate infection will usually cause the PSA to spike then go back down after successful treatment. There are numerous symptoms that men can have from these infections, some of which you referenced. Your mind can also start playing games with you after seeing blood and reading Dr Internet articles so stay cool and visit the doctor again if nothing resolves quickly.

I'm not a doctor or anything close but I'd ask about kidney stones.

I was thinking of kidney stones as well...but am assuming your doctors would think of that from the jump...caveat emptor on this forum...nary a one here knows better about your condition than your doctors...this is one of my pet peeves on forums....many practice stuff...none conduct....think Carnagei Hall(sp?} again back off strenuous workouts and of course I am no exception to the rule of giving medical advice...a last bit...were you tested for a urinary tract infection? Men with an active sexual life do get them and and they can be quite persistent...

Saw Dr again today, further explained symptoms.... got a prostate exam and was told it felt smooth, no abnormalities. I was given more antibiotics. We’ll see what happens.

Prostatitis is persistent as well and difficult even with antibiotic...but will self resolve in time...I "believe"

Also as said, kidney stones can be a cause but believe me, if it blocks the ureter, you'll have no doubt! Worse pain I ever had to endure. Then 4 months of stents inserted and taken out before it " plinked" one morning into the toilet.
I fished it out. It was one inch by about one half inch and yellow as it was 99% uric acid.
Hope it's not a stone
