Friday humor: What about this club we are all members of??

Yes, we do have a club here, of sorts. It came to mind recently when I saw a reference to it in an old post I was looking at.

Maybe fun to bring up for a little Friday humor.

We frequently do welcome visitors to the site here with a sort of anti-greeting ("Sorry you have to be here"), followed up by occasional references to "the club that nobody wants to join," we insist that there is such a club, and that we the regulars here are all members of it.

So what about our club? What is there to know about it? Well maybe, for example, some things to know about it might be:


NAME: Brothers of the Blue Ribbon

CLUB NICKNAME: "The club nobody wants to join"

CLUB MOTTO: "Cut it or burn it, goldurn it!"

DATE FOUNDED: Let's just say it's been around for quite a while, like maybe thousands of years?

MEMBERSHIP: Men only. But there is a Ladies' Auxiliary, whose help is always greatly appreciated

MEMBER AGE ELIGIBILITY: Generally anytime after age 45. But the older one gets to be after that, the more the club welcome mat is out

INITIATION RITUAL: Something called a prostate biopsy examination

SECRET PASSWORD: "Walnut"

DUES: Anxiety and worry, paid either daily, monthly, or whatever arrangements suit the member. There is also a special dues assessment that is payable around the time of something called a PSA test.

MEETINGS: there's this thing called HWPC Forum, which pretty much serves that purpose

GROUNDS FOR DISMISSAL FROM CLUB: you may look for them, but the grounds for dismissal from the club are undetectable


So, have I missed anything? As fellow club members, feel free to suggest any other useful club descriptors that come to mind.

Well, there was some humor (maybe) when I got my three month shot last week.

The nurses informed me they have Lupron again. Yay! I said Eligard really burns as it's injected. The nurse said she hears that a lot, probably because it's applied to the arm.

Nurse says, "where do you want it?"

I say, "In the butt, I guess."

The nurses look at each other and start giggling. "Right cheek or left cheek is what I meant."

Maybe you had to be there... 😉

There are some other aspects that only we can truly understand:

Am I the only one who takes a quick look at the glove rack in the exam room, to see which size gloves appear to be the most used?

We all tend to agree that our post-menopausal spouses have no sympathy for the hot flashes.

There is nothing good to say about catheters

The first dump after surgery

The immediacy of needing to pee when there isn't a bathroom in sight

"Brothers of the Blue Ribbon" Does anyone wear a ribbon pin or a light blue prostate cancer wrist band anymore? They seem to have gone out of favor with PCa patients and supporters.

So… a guy goes into a bar and in front of the bartender on the counter is a foot-tall little man playing a tiny little piano.

Where did you get that little fellow?” he asks the bartender.

“There’s a Genie in the closet over there that will grant your wish,” the bartender replies.

The customer goes over to the closet and when he comes out ducks start falling from the sky.

“Hey, what’s up with that Genie of yours? I asked for a million bucks, not ducks,” the customer says.

“Well” the bartender says,"the Genie is hard of hearing. ” Do you think I made a wish for a 12-inch pianist?”

I have been in several 5-K distance events, that raised money for prostate cancer awareness & new research.

I do wear the t-shirts, from time to time, on my trail walks.

Having just a little to do with our club.... We went to dinner tonight with a friend and his wife. We spent about 21/2 hours in the restaurant and in tha time, my friend went to the bathroom twice. The second time, he came back and remarked " ***, you're 5 years older than me and you have not gone to the bathroom once, i've gone twice already. I replied, "thats because i dont have a prostate to gum up the works, you do.
