First "less than" sign??

Had surgery Jan. of this year. Six week PSA test was 0.01. Three months later, 0.01. Just got my Aug. test result - <0.01. First time I got the "<" sign. Did my PSA really go down or did someone make an error? You thoughts??? Regardless, no increase, which I am pleased.

0.0099 and 0.01 can be as simple as hydration, or an equipment calibration issue. You chances of reccurance are low with that value at 6 months.

It's odd that they are not using the ultrasensitive test for you, it is what is usually used post surgery. You might ask about that. That being said, it's a great thing to get that <. Don't sweat it too much.

I asked about the test used and why there weren't more numbers to the right of the decimal such as the Labcorp I've read about. This is the ultrasensitive test the lab used where my blood was sent - "Roche Electrochemiluminescent Immunoassay. The reference interval is less than 0.05 if there is no residual disease."

I think it's hard to find fault with a PSA that doesn't increase. Maybe you're hovering near detectable. No big deal. Many of us may be closer to "detectable" than we know.
