We saw the urologist today and he didn't really have much different to say than what radiation oncologist said. He just said it's an unusual case in that the cancer in the fossa bed was radiation resistant, which is why there is a mass there. I believe he said that happens in 1 in 100. He said the same as radiation oncologist that dad could wait and start Lupron or start now. As we know, people can become resistant to hormone therapy too. It can do well for a year or 10 years, etc. However there are different hormones that can be used along with other things to help stop the cancer he said. He did say it's very good that dad is asymptomatic and that's where we want him to stay. He's going to have dad go to a medical oncologist too just to get their thoughts on taking care of this. Urologist is going to do a scope of the bladder as well just to make sure all is good there since it's close to the fossa bed mass. Nothing lit up there on the scan tho. They are doing that on December 15.
He will take his first Lupron shot next Tuesday and then the shot for bones (to strengthen them and keep them healthy) next Wednesday.
Any thoughts here? I’m scared. The urologist was talking about how painful bone cancer is.
