Hi BB,
First I want to say that my question is meant
only to find out more about
how situations like your arise and is
not meant to scold in any way! Given your family history, can you tell us the reason(s) that you stopped monitoring your PSA after the result of 4 in 2016 until the 7.4 in 2021? Also, the reason for then waiting another 6 months to test again (PSA 9.9) and then another 3-4 months before imaging?
Have you had any imaging to provide indications as to whether your PCa is likely confined to the prostate capsule or shows signs of growth out of it or any enlarged pelvic lymph nodes or indications of other metastases? This is usually the second part of the diagnostic phase after a biopsy of G7 (4+3) or higher.
Of course none of us can go back in time, but
any insight you can share could benefit newbies who come to the Forum because they are concerned about a rising PSA and the prospect of PCa.On a related topic, I came across this Italian comparison study just this morning:
Should 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT Replace CT and Bone Scan in Clinical Staging of High-risk Prostate Cancer? (2022)
"Conclusion: The 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT was more accurate than CT and bone scan in the staging of high-risk PCa,
leading to a change in the therapeutic strategy in 10% of the cases."
Many thanks!
