New term that I heard from someone who is Tall

On another forum, some Tall guy used a new acronym.

ARI - Androgen Receptor Inhibitor
Drugs like Xtandi are ARIs.

I don't know if the terms and definitions can be added to by an admin, but it seems worthwhile to me.

The question is it really necessary? Inhibitor vs deprivation? or is HT enough for a forum?

However, while on the subject, the list is old and could be easily improved. Many of us had ART (Adjuvant RT) and it is not on the list. Many are looking at eSRT now as well. GFMPH still comes up all the time when mentioned by someone.

I am not in love with lots of sticky notes as a general rule but the Glossary is important when anyone new to PCa is trying to navigate the forum and its lingo. I would be happy to help with that task but I would expect it to be a one and done update just to get up to 2022 and not an endless effort. Perfection is not attainable with volunteers as a general rule and we have more important things to worry about. I also retired to get away from such stuff as consensus meetings, etc.

HT can mean several things from a medical viewpoint.
I am all for being specific and ARI is more specific.

I fully support Mumbos' suggestion to review and update the abbreviations (glossery). Maybe add some of the genes that are relevant although this landscape changes frequently.

ps: I might add that I don’t see the point of trying to be comprehensive. Every paper spends time defining the sometime crazy abbreviations they use, same with books. The main thing is to get the everyday abbreviations included for the new members and maybe strike some that don’t fit well or have been replaced.

Guys, I’m in Europe right now in COVID quarantine. So I have not been very active lately. Assuming I ever get home I’ll post more about this. I now know more about CDC requirements than I ever wanted to know.

Anyway, back to the subject at hand - Mumbo, since you have volunteered would you please take a crack at it! If you don’t mind, email a draft to the mods. We will also run it by some other knowledgeable members then post as a replacement for the sticky we have,

I think it makes perfect sense to keep the glossary updated. As the World of treatments continues to evolve and different medication’s target specific receptors the glossary will definitely have to be updated that this forum maintain accuracy.

Tud - I will give the abbreviation list a update, my brother is visiting this weekend and my Dad turns 95 (w/PCa) next weekend so a little short of time right now.

Bummer on the unexpected visit to the Covid hotel. We came back from Rome a few weeks ago and waiting 15 minutes for the test result with others was the most stressful part. The stories are legendary and it is a big mess. No one else cares, just coming back to the US. It only costs an extra cash fee in the Dominican Republic if you happen to test positive to get the problem solved per people we know.

One can add LOF
Late onset flare. I have one so I did a little research and found out it's not uncommon after SBRT
LUTS is another one but it might be there
