Gallium-68 PSMA PET Finds No New Mets

Did the Gallium-68 a few days ago at MSK. This was a follow up to a PSMA PET F/18 done last July. That scan turned up an abdominopelvic node near the right rectum wall. Characterized by my MO as “hot.” That soft tissue node was treated with 5 sessions of SBRT last September. This week’s Gallium-68 found no new uptake since July and the treated node “diminished.” PSA prior to SBRT was 11.0. Most recently in January was 11.4. So headed back to Medical Oncology at MSK to discuss, I imagine, options for system wide treatment. The good news is no new mets, especially distant mets, were found. The bad news is that biochemical progression is, well, progressing. The struggle continues. Best wishes to all.

Let us know how your next consultation goes. Has your medical team suggested what system-wide treatment might be considered next?

I have had a series of treatments, over time. My toughest treatments have paid the greatest dividends. I feel that each treatment attacked renegade cancer cells in different ways.

I'm hoping you are doing well.

I remember asking my RO what my next steps would be if the RA failed. He said that I would have a new scan called PSMA. He said it was much more advanced at finding hot spots that could be treated. From what I have read here it looks like it is the way to go for the future. I am truly amazed at reading the veterans threads from way back and all the innovations in treatments that have occurred over the years.

Newspaperlover, that is truly is great news regarding the decreased node from the scan. I pray that any future treatments you may need have the same result. My best to you.
