The responses I got from "Catheter Removal" put my mind at ease. What a group of thoughtful, helpful and caring folks on this board. Means a bunch having other guys who've been through it to talk to. So, here's another one.

Had my biopsy two weeks ago. Age 59, type II Diabetic, 3/13 - two 3+3's and one 3+4. Going for the CT and Bone Scan tomorrow. Just can't wait to drink that stuff. Anyway, seems like my energy level is lagging. The "Get up and Go" has "Got up and went" - and I miss it! Don't know whether its the anxiety, stress or something to do with the PC or what. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Well not knowing I can't say for sure, but I think it is from stress and worry...nothing seems important to you now, but the PC..nothing else is worth doing.  Curtis was just the opposite.  He had one goal and that was to get his shop built and winterized which he did...He's been chomping at the bit to get back and finish the inside, but knows that he can't for about 3 more weeks.

By the way there was nothing to Curtis' catheter removal either...I was watching and he didn't even flinch!!  You'll be fine!!

Hi George,

It is very doubtful a drop in your energy level has anything to do with PCa. As you suspect maybe the stress and worry over the last weeks has along with the diabetes affected your stamina. Certainly you should consult your doctor, and he/she may prescribe a supliment for you during these trying times.

I was 60 at the time of diagnosis, and part of the problem for me was not sleeping well because of the worring. I found that a 30-40 minute brisk walk every day helped a lot.

Hi Ellen and Glen - Thanks so much for your replies.

Seems like everything now is controlled by schedule. CT and Bone Scan tomorrow then readout on the 7th. Then, as an added precaution I've got to see a cardiologist, then its schedule time for the surgery. I'm surprised any of us have any sanity left once this stuff is over.

Yes I remember that all to well...seemd like all we did for a while there was go to doctor's or the hospital for something and it doesn't end after the surgery is over...Tomorrow we have a post surgery appt. with the urologist to decide the next step and see how Curtis is doing.

After I got the results of my biopsy indicating that I had Pca I found it difficult to sleep well for about a week and as a result felt tired and out of energy. Atter doing my research and making my decision to have surgery I began sleepign better. I also started walking a lot more then i normally did at the time and that helped build up my stamina and gave me more energy. I also started a few small projects that took my mind off the upcoming surgery. As I approach my Da Vinci this Wednesday I can feel the anxiety building but I am getting a fairly good night sleep with the help of Tylenol PM. I doubt that the PCa is causing any of the energy drain that you are having it is probably just the anxiety.

Hi George,

None of the things facing you are going to be a cake walk, but all of us each in our turn went through them. Now we are on the other side, and here to support you as we were each supported. The unknown is a scary thing especially when its called PCa. You will go to each doctor's appointment, consultation, test, and then surgery, but you're not going to be alone because we'll all be here for you, and the anxiety will melt away as it is replaced with knowledge and experience. So have confident tomorrow; you'll be just fine.

  Hello George I also had problems with energy ect. I turned into a couch spud after about a week of this feeling sorry for me stuff I realized this wasn't helping me and my family, this was affecting all of us. Im just sharing my story as this is how I started my journey with PC. George Im sure as days go by you will start to feel stronger and stronger ready to fight this thing don't be afraid to ask your doctor for something to take the edge off it helps a ton with sleep and all those thougts racing thru our heads. Keep reading here George these people can,t wait to help us Bless them all. jwtw

Hey all - Thank you so much for your wonderful support and insight. After reading your comments, I began to look back and really analyze why I felt the energy level lagging. And, realized that this thing had really hit me like a ton of bricks. Like it does all of us. And, having never been hospitalized for any surgery before, healthy as a horse and active - I realized that the dread, fear and challenge of facing the unknown had really impacted me. Like jwtw said, I realized I was heading for the title of "Grand PooPon of Couch Spuds".

Then, after reading all your posts, and seeing that the boat I share with all of you really isn't sinking, I decided enough is enough! Time for the "pitty-party" to end.

Of course, its natural to feel sorry for yourself at first. And, to consider the impact this is going to have on your loved ones is all a bit scary and somewhat overwhelming. But, as of today, the "pitty-party" for George is over! I'm committed to slugging it out in the mud with this thing and getting on with the rest of my life. Even "peeing" in a bag has its benefits - at least I can sleep through the night without regular trips to the john - unless the bag explodes then thats a whole other problem.

Hey geobet1!  Great post - pity-party.  Beautiful.  I've been doing a bunch of negative stuff and also decided to quit it.  You sure express better than I.  I don't even have cancer yet.  What a weenie I am.  Jeez!  (Whatever that means.)
