Daveed--From my experience here, folks are open to listen and respond to whatever is on your mind. I've appreciated the openness, the support, the caring, and the informative messages. This forum so much better than I ever expected of an Internet forum on prostate cancer. For me, it helps just to know that everybody here is going thru what I'm going thru.
As far as support from wives, I can say that my wife and I have been thru the emotional roller coaster in the past year. Our relationship has been redefined in significant ways by prostate cancer. What helped me the most is the understanding that prostate cancer was as difficult emotionally for my wife as it was for me. At first I thought she didn't care, but the more we talked the more I understood that she cared more than I knew.
We kept talking and still keep talking thru the ever-changing prostate cancer journey. We love each other more deeply as a result of this evil disease that neither of us asked for. We are thankful to have each other and are less apt to take each other for granted. Another lesson learned is that we take life a day at a time and squeeze joy out of the ordinary ways in which we are a couple.
Life hasn't been easy, but it's been good. We're on this journey hand-in-hand, heart-to-heart.
