6 weeks post biopsy and still sore

I had my biopsy on 1/23/07 and have had symptoms of a prostate infection every since.  Dr. said that no sign of infection, but am on antibiotics just in case.  I ache all the time.  Has anyone else had this experience.  Is it normal? Thank you all in advance, Kurt

When I was in the hospital for my Da Vinci surgery, my roomate had been there for a couple of days due to an infection after his biopsy.  I wasn't able to communicate with him very well, since he was originally from a foreign country and it was hard to understand him.  Plus, I had just come out from my surgery.  He had done his biopsy in a different facility on a Monday, and was hospitalized by Wednesday.  He wasn't very happy, and was trying to get some answers.  Since they go through the rectum, there are possibilities for infections.   If you still ache, I'm sure they have checked out other things, like blood in the urine or bowel movements or ejaculate.  All that should be cleared up by now.  Have you talked to the doctor doing your surgery?  He needs to know if something is not quite right.

Kurt, I had two biopsies 2 months apart. The second one was on 1/16, a week before yours. I was pretty sore for about 5 weeks each time. Everyone is different and it may be nothing but the doctors you are working with should definately know about it.

Kurt, I was just a bit sore for a couple of days. An aspirin fixed it. I have heard of others experiencing serious tenderness for a considerable period of time.

Thank you all, and Hawk, I was in the hospital for a week following my biopsy with and E. Coli infection. I have since switched local docs and surgeon is out of state. When I called his office last week, he put me immediately back on antibiotics, even though the local doc says all looks clear. I will not meet the surgeon until Tuesday, the day before my surgery. I just hurt, just like I have in the past with prostate infections. I can't wait for this thinf to be out of me. Kurt

Hi Kurt (and Courtney too!)

I had a 29-core biopsy and I don't recall any major side effects other than blood in my semen for many weeks thereafter. The problem you are having doesn't seem like the norm. I hope your doctor can get you over this quickly so that your suffering ends. Cheers!

Kurt,

Try a week of Arnica Montana. There is probably some inflamation. Arnica is a wonderful healing remedy that has no anti-inflamatory drug properties so won't interfere with any other meds or treatment. Hyland and Boiron both make a good Arnica. 30x is about the best you can get without seeing a homeopath and that's fine. Use 4 tiny sublinguals 3-4 times a day for a week and stop. Your own body will heal itself. If you like, do another week after being off. You don't need to do anything more.

PS: no coffee (oils) within a half hour of usig a remedy.
Peppermint interferes with the action of many remedies so
limit mint to toothpaste for a couple of weeks also. Again,
not within a half hour of using a remedy.

I just joined the forum 10 minutes ago and saw your thread. I'm sensitive, as most people here are, to pain, because I have a lot of my own (I'll post my story with questions later).

I had pain after my biopsy for about 2-3 weeks - however, along with blood in my ejaculate for about a month - I had pain when ejaculating for about two months, and I was sore and achey for several days after.

Thanks for your reply Gromit'sDad. I will let my husband know that others have had the pain also. That will be a big relief to him. Sorry you had to join this family, but welcome all the same. You will learn quite a lot here. Everyone is very helpful and so caring. Share as much as you wish or feel comfortable with. I had pain too! I've had 5 biopsies for high PSAs in the past 2 years. Still no sign of PC yet. Thinking of dumping my small town uro and heading for the big city to get access to "real" medicine! yeah
