Dilation procedure - effect on continence

I have developed scar tissue at the site where the urethra was re-attached to the bladder -- just beyond the sphincter.  My doctor advises a procedure in which he will stretch the tissue to re-open the area of the stricture.  He commented that I may see "some" "temporary" relapse with incontinence.  I've been very lucky with good continence, and I'd hate to permanently lose ground.  Has anyone faced this issue?  Thanks in advance for any advice.
