Hello,

I am 45 years old and nine months post-radical prostatectomy.  I've gotten over the life-is-unfair response, and I'm happy to say that my PSA is undetectable after three blood draws. 

My question seems delicate to me, but is probably old-hat to many of you.  I have intense pain after orgasm that lasts for about 30 seconds and then dies away.  The pain never appears until after, never during or before.  The location of the pain, as far as I can tell, is right where the prostate used to be.  Have any of you experienced the same symptom?

I'm in the same boat. Out of the few I have had I got a horrible pain in the prostate area that would put me on my back resting until it went away. I thought it was because I had an orgasm too early after my surgery - 3 weeks.

All I can tell you is about my experiences and what other guys and wives have told me here.  Post-surgery aches and pains are different and sometimes mysterious.

I never had post-surgery orgasm pain.  BUT, like Tamu. another member here, I sensed something missing in the area where my prostate used to reside.  And sometimes, I'd get this rap-a-tap-tap feeling -- like a finger trying to poke from within the area where my prostate was -- starting from behind my scrotum and proceeding up to the top of the crack of my "you-know-what."   IT DROVE ME NUTS!  (Tamu too , I think) BUT IT'S GONE NOW!!  Give it time and hopefully your weird sensations will go away too. 

I've talked to a few guys who've had surgery and each case has its own little surprises.

BUT --- Talk to your doctor.

You'll be fine.

Patience my man. Patience.

Thanks for your responses.  The pain was not present for the first 6 months or so.  It has appeared during the past few weeks.  I plan to discuss this with my doctor when I see him next, but I was hoping that maybe my problem wasn't unique.  That is why I sought out this community. The pain is intense, but fortunately it is short-lived. 

My gratitude at having (so far) undetectable PSA trumps any incovenience in my love life.  I have young children to watch grow up after all.  Nevertheless, I'd like to know that I won't have to pay for a few minutes of pleasure with a few moments of agony every time.

BTW my gleason is 3+4; no cancer in the margins.
