I have tried to find topics on ED through the search engine, but it keeps coming up with "no matches."  I know better.

Could those of you with experience with ED either point me in the right direction or address the issue here?

I'm 9 months to the day beyond my Radical Prostatectomy (not robotic--don't know what to call it).  Both bundles were spared.  Continence was cleared up completely within 5-6 weeks, but ED is still a big (or rather small ) issue.  Viagra works some but not every time.  Gosh but it's expensive!

Under certain particularly erotic situations, I can achieve about 1/3 without drugs.  Here's the weird part: I sometimes get spontaneous 1/2 to 2/3 erections without sexual stimulation of any kind.  It often happens when I'm sitting on the toilet trying to evacuate the last bit of urine.  Obviously something in this process is physically stimulating the nerves because erotic thoughts or sexual stimulation does not get the same results. 

Do such spontaneous, non-sexual erections happen common to any of you, and if so, does this sound like a hopeful future of drug-free success?  My urologist knows about this, and he is pleased with my progress, but he didn't have much to say except to be patient. 

Not looking necessarily for reassurance; I'll just want to know how you have experienced the gradual return to full functionality--if such a state is even possible.

The rehab for Ed generally follows the following course. A couple of weeks after surgery begin taking Viagra, Cialis or Levitra. The dosage and frequency varies among urologist that follow a penile rehab program. In my case I started taking 25 mgs every night for six nights without any stimulation and then on the seventh night 100 mgs with stimulation. I did this for three to four weeks with little effect. I then began using a vacuum pump along with the Viagra. This provided an erection firm enough for penetration but it lacked a lot in quality. My urologist actually recommended injections over the vacuum pump but left it up to me and said that I would be back for the injection. He was right. After about two months I went to his office to have my first injection. The injection itself did not hurt but the medication in Caverjet caused me a lot of aching and it took me a few weeks to get up the nerve to try it again. I was prescribed Bimix, which is a compounded drug that does not have any of the medication that is in Caverjet. The Bimix worked well and I have been using it ever since. I can get about a 30% erection now without any assistance and about a 50% to 70% with just Viagra. A couple of months ago my urologist told me to combine the Viagra with the injection. Since then I have had improvement and have been able to reduce the dosage of the Bimix. The sensations you are having with just Viagra are more then I have had. If you were on injections you would probably see a quicker return of normal erections. My urologist is very proactive for returning erections. It is obvious from others on this forum that not all urologist are that way and some just say you have to wait without any intervention. I would suggest you discuss this with your urologist. Not all men can inject themselves in the penis so many urologist wait for the patient to indicate dissatisfaction before prescribing injections.

Hi, 0K. I'm not quite 3 months out from da vinci. Started on 50 mg viagra after two weeks. At 6 weeks, increased to 100 mg. I'm getting maybe 40-50% with Viagra and no better than 20% without. Disappointing, but Dr and others on this forum tell me I'm about on schedule. Dr said not to expect any real improvement for the first 6 months, so it sounds to me like you're right on schedule or even ahead. Because of cost of Viagra, I ordered Caverta through alldaychemist.com. Much, much cheaper, and I've found it works as well as, maybe even a little bit better, than Viagra. My dr was dubious, but so far so good. As for your specific question, I too find that the little guy gets confused between pee*ng and the other sensation. I have to be careful that I don't do both at once, but a little concentration seems usually takes care of that. I'm relying on the nerves to finally figure things out.

Being just 30 days out of surgery, I'm not so worried about the ED but I am on a Viagra, Cialis, "rehabilitation program" like the others.  I've learned a lot from this forum, so I'm just being patient and going with my doctor's advice.

56pontiac and others.... you refer to alldaychemist.com in your post yesterday. I went to the site and it looks interesting. My doctor has prescribed 20mg cialis which has the active ingredient tadalafil. I am in the United States, and they say that "tadalafil is not for consumption in the United States". Does that mean I can't buy from them? I tried to call and got their voice mail. Does anyone have any ideas how I can cut the cost?

I guess I have been a little lucky in the ED area. I'm about 10 months post PPR and can get a usable erections without the use of Viagra. The Viagra does make it better though! I have also woke up a few time in the last month in the last month with a erection! I would highly recomend the generic viagra from alldaychemist.com. I think every man that works for a insurance company that denies our coverage for these drugs should have to deal with this disease. Then... they might be more willing to cover them in our cases. I say to H*& ^ with them and buy the generic where ever we can get it. Let them keep the high dollar drugs!
Anyway...just hang in there and let things heal. You should be back in action soon!
Just wish I could stop the leaking.

I live in Oregon. I have had absolutely no problems with them. Less than a 1.00 a pill I used one last night (worked great) since today is a holiday, I might even use another one today since it's only $1.00.     I have ordered at least three times. I didn't have to fax a prescription. One of the advantages of this fast computer age we live in is if someone uses your credit card by fraud you are not responsible and your card company will give you a new one and reverse all the charges. When we were in Hawaii last year someone used one of my business credit card numbers and purchased $11,000 worth of roofing material from a legitimate company in Spokane. They didn't verify anything they shipped the product to Indonesia can you beleive it? Indonesia! and they were out their product. The card number the thieves used had never been used to buy anything anywhere. Advanta bank told me that the thieves use a computer program to generate card numbers, and sometimes they luck out and score. The roofing materials supply company was really stupid by taking the order over the phone and not verifying an address. They do have a secure site.  Once you enter the area for credit card info, you enter a VeriSign protected section.  That's the gold standard of protection.

As an experiment, I ordered 10 and 10 free, I didn't change any of their doctors info.  Some doctors name and phone number was already entered in that slot, so I just answered the health question and proceeded.  They took the order, so far.  No request for script, no further info.  I noticed they said somewhere on there that 'some' prescriptions might need to be faxed.  I guess by that they were implying that most didn't.  Probably narcotics and such does require it.  We will see if they do ship it to me.  Oh, the shipping was a surprise- $24.95.  Where do they ship from, India itself, or the other side of the moon?
