Update on Dad's surgery/recovery

Hey all,

Just an update and a couple of questions.

My dad had robotic surgery at University of Michigan (fortunately BEFORE their football loss to Appalachia, wouldn't want any distracted surgeons) on 8/24 and catheter removal on 9/5. He was hoping to be one of the "very lucky" immediately continent people but that's not to be.

Anyway....he seems to have had more than expected pain during the whole catheter cycle and removal..and is just now feeling a little less pain.

But he says he wakes up at night drenched with sweat....is that common? He's still on an antibiotic and Flomax I think.

Any ideas?

Thanks to all of you for the input and support you show. I definately talk to my dad about some of your experiences and suggestions and input. I'm going to try and move him to the internet world....but first he's got other things to be concerned about.

Hello Julie,

I do remember the discomfort (code word for pain), but it was February, and pretty cold as I recall so I don't think I had any episodes of severe sweating. You should probably inform your dad's doctor; hopefully both symptoms will soon mitigate. Please tell your dad we wish him a speedy recovery.
