Catheter Removed, Cystogram good.

Hello All,

I have just returned from Vanderbilt and I have finally got to talk with Dr. Herrell about my pathology report which I already knew was good. The Cystogram showed things had healed well enought to take out the Catheter. There was no pain involved with any of the proceedures just some funny feeling as they were filling up my bladder. I was able to start and stop my stream when I got the Catheter removed. Dr, Herrell said that since I was able to do this he was sure I would regain full control of my bladder.

Right now I am sort of leaking at various times but when I go to the bathroom and try to pee I can't make myself do it. My bladder has not told me I need to use the bathroom as of yet but about every hour I am trying to make myself pee but so far no success. It is like I am depending on the Catheter to just take care of it for me but it is not there. I don't know if any of this makes any sense to any of you. Did it take any of you a while to be able to make yourself pee?

It feels so great to not have the Catheter in and urine running down the tube onto my leg. It feels good to know the cancer is gone at least for now and hopefully forever. It is going to feel good to roll over in the bed at night onto whatever side I want to roll onto. Boy I sure took a lot of little things for granted.

The Doctor said be patient and time would get me to be where I want to be. I can tell you it has been a whirlwind of things happening to me from 10/5 when I was diagnosed to 11/26 the day the Catheter was removed.

My journey is not over but I have to thank all of you for making it easier for me by providing me with comfort, information and letting me know what to expect.

I am still a rooky compared to many of you but I am willing to share information that I do have experience with. Thanks to Bluebird and all the other well versed informants I don't think anyone will need my advice.

We can't all be here all the time and regardless your perspective and understanding is different from everyone elses.  There is amazing value in the many voices here!

No one here has the last word on anything!  And especially any humorous or encouraging thought is always welcome by not just those you might respond to but those "staying tuned in" to learn and offer support where they can.

We all take time off and so those here need to be ever on the alert for the panic-strickened newby that needs an immediate response.  We all certainly can understand that feeling.

One of our biggest challenges is to disagree and still get along!
(Disagree without being disagreeable......something about respecting the other person's choices and perspectives.)
