GMA- I didn't have overt symptoms as a child, but in hindsight, my teeth do have some enamel issues, there's some bowing of my leg bones.... both likely due to issues from celiac as a child.
Oftentimes, you have symptoms as a child, they go dormant, and are again triggered as an adult.
Heart- I was diagnosed with IBS, then severe anemia. I had every GI workup known to man and no one was finding any answers. As a last resort, my GI decided to test me for celiac and was proud as hell when he came in to tell me it was positive. His comment actually was, "You just have to tweak your diet!" Oh how far we've come in 12 years as far as education goes, right?
Oh so timeline was hysterectomy was in 1992.... celiac diagnosis 1997.
