Hi everyone,
Im new here, and although im sure you all listen to many peoples stories, im glad to have found somewhere that I feel more 'normal'. Reading the threads has been so informative.
Im 36 and usually bouncy and energetic! but over the past 6 months ive stared to feel unwell and its really detriorated, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism a few years ago, and I thought that my levels were low and causing symptoms, so the gp put my meds up, but still I felt really tired alot, sleeping for 16 hours on my days off. Then I was diagnosed with pernicious anaemia so my stomach wasnt breaking down vitamin B12, so I went on to injections of b12, but still I kept going to the drs with tiredness and stomach pains and nausea, these symptoms got worse and in the last couple of months ive been so exhausted, too tired to do anything, feeling dizzy, constantly nauseaus, being sick, the symptoms continued to worsten, we thought it was the Panaemia, so I kept going back to the gp to get b12 injections. Three weeks ago I ended up feeling really dreadful, found out on another blood test that Im not breaking down folate either so now have folate deficiency. Ive been off sick the past 3 weeks, so exhausted, a hugely distended abdomen, abdominal pains, sickness, Ive been to the hospital for IV drugs and fluids as for a while I kept nothing down for 2 days. Im now still at home feeling very unwell, Im waiting for a celiacs blood test result to come back from the Hospital, we did do a chemist finger poke test which showed negative, but coeilacs uk says that they are not accurate enough and to wait out the blod test results, im also booked in for a scan of my abdomen (I still look easily 6 months pregnant, and im thin everywhere else!) and an endoscopy to check for other factors/damage.
Its all been such a miserable experience, ive completely lost myself to feeling so unwell which is most unlike me, im just always in bed or on the sofa with my hot water bottle and pain killers.
On a positive note, last week as soon as my bloods were taken for the coeliacs screen I stopped wheat and gluten foods, have done lots of research whilst resting, and purchased some online coeliacs foods, my nausea has gone in the past few days.
Thanks for listening, anyone else experienced any of these things?
Im lactose intolerant too, so would be great to get recipes ideas and info from others xx
