Losing weight, Dr. says IBS, can it be Celiac?

Dealing with gastro problems for past 6 months, have lost too much weight, nothing seems to help the pain, bloating, etc.  Dr. says , it is IBS, yet I am not any better?

Have any of you had this missed DX ??

The symptoms of gluten intolerance/Celiac seem to fit mine.  Is there a test the Dr. can give me for this?   I had colonoscopy , would it have shown up there???

Should I try the gluten free diet on my own??? 

I did have the upper scope, but don't think they did any biopsies, I know they did one on the colon part.   

I could not believe the symptoms, that are just like mine.  The article said most Doctors will say it is IBS and treat as such, which does not help.

do they automatically look for celiac when they do the scope??  I know they said I had small polups in the stomach, but don't know if they tested for Celiac.  I need to call my Dr. and have him check this.   I sure don't want another scope...;(

How long did it take for the stomach issues to start going away after you

start gluten and wheat free???........where you anemic by the time they discovered the celiac?    What do they do for that besides fill you full of iron????........Thank you for replying, I have so many questions.

Having the abdominal scan this am to rule out stuff.  of course nervous about it.

 

Unfortuantly I have never gotten better, 8 years of me going back to the doctors and I just kept getting fobbed off with your have ibs associated with coeliac or your not following a gluten free diet( i am extremly strict) but finally my doctor listened after I lost a hell of a lot iof weight again with diarrhea and I had another endoscopy and a mri small bowel scan and have just been told I have Crohn's disease as well!!!

My sister has also just been told she has coeliac and after 3/4 weeks she feels amazing! Hope you feel better soon

I had the abdominal scan Tuesday, was scared to death, but it was quick, and it is over, thank god.  no results now until Monday because of the holiday!  ;(

was terribly bound up yesterday from the barium, horrible pain, took

Mom, called the Dr. nurse told me to take Colace too, so I did, then I felt worse!.....a war was in my gut!......felt really awful, almost called 911.

called Dr. again, he said do warm water enemas, the bloating went down,

but just water mainly coming out, along with a hard plug of the barium.

terrible time.........................still having watery stools this am.

haven't eaten hardly anything, so hopefully today will be better.
